Overview & Highlights

Welcome to a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Ponorogo, "RM Garang Asem Bu Parti." This Javanese restaurant captures the essence of traditional Indonesian flavors, offering a vibrant dining experience that resonates with spice lovers and food enthusiasts alike.

Located at 2FQ8+C2R, Mantup, Ngasinan, Kec. Jetis, Kabupaten Ponorogo, Jawa Timur 63473, Indonesia, RM Garang Asem Bu Parti has earned its reputation as a go-to spot for authentic local cuisine. Though some patrons may find the pricing competitive with Jakarta's dining scene, the rich flavors and aromatic dishes make the journey worth it. Reviewers like Ifla D have acknowledged the pricing aspect, highlighting that while it may seem a bit steep for locals, the experience is well worth it.

One standout dish is the *Garang Asem Pedas*—spicy sour chicken steamed with banana leaves. Customers rave about its distinctive flavor and mouthwatering spices, with Yansen Ady Subroto passionately urging everyone to give it a try. This dish is not just a meal; it’s an experience that showcases the culinary heritage of the region. Even the esteemed Pak Jokowi, Indonesia's 7th president, has been a patron, a testament to the restaurant's popularity and quality.

However, be prepared for a spicy adventure, as noted by previous diners like DENNIM and iskandar safar. The heat can be intense, and while it’s not for the faint-hearted, the balance of spice and flavor is what elevates the dining experience at RM Garang Asem Bu Parti. The local traditional cuisine is truly a celebration of Javanese culinary art, delivering flavors that are both rich and unforgettable.

In summary, RM Garang Asem Bu Parti is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary journey that invites diners to savor the spicy complexities of Javanese fare. If you find yourself in Ponorogo, don't miss the chance to indulge in a meal where tradition and taste converge in delightful harmony.

Price jakarta althought its village and a little bit far from ponorogo city. Its tasty but i will prefer other gourmet in ponorogo. Rice : 5000 IDR (its common in Jakarta but you can find pecel 5000 with its vegetables and lauk)

local traditional cuisine that really spicy not for weak stomach

The taste quite ok. For garang asem quite expensive for locals since the chicken was ayam kampung

Very delicious food, well known for the local even to Pak Jokowi. Tolerate to spicy is required but not too extreme spicy

Garang Asem Pedas / Spicy Sour Chicken Steamed with Banana Leaf is their most delicious food here! YOU SHOULD TRY! Even the Indonesian’s 7th president ever come here to visit and try their delicious food!

Nice place to get traditional cuisine. Of course Garangasem is the best menu ever... You should try all the varieties of Garangasem...

Taste is good. Not as spicy as people said. We can still enjoy the spicy. There are two option for spicy level, spicy and light spicy (sumer:java)

First time makan Garangan Asem, it's quite difficult to say how it taste but all I felt is chicken with spicy-but-tasty.
